Surin Islands snorkeling — crystal-clear water, untouched reefs, and a real national park escape
A full-day speedboat adventure to Mu Ko Surin National Park
Surin Islands is one of the Andaman’s most beautiful snorkeling destinations — five islands surrounded by bright shallow coral, turquoise water, and bays that feel far away from busy tourist areas. Located around 60 km off the west coast of Phang Nga province (and north of the Similans), the Surin archipelago is all about natural scenery: quiet beaches, healthy reef life, and that “remote island” feeling you can’t fake.
This day trip is built for maximum time in the water without stress. You’ll cruise out by speedboat, snorkel multiple spots in the park’s best areas, enjoy a buffet lunch at the National Park restaurant, and (conditions permitting) visit the Moken village — the local sea-gypsy community known for their deep connection to the ocean. It’s a full, beautiful day: easy snorkeling, relaxed island vibes, and some of the clearest water you’ll see in Thailand.
- 3 snorkeling stops in different bays/channels (chosen for the day’s best conditions)
- National Park lunch plus water, soft drinks, fruit & snacks during the trip
- Moken village visit (when allowed and conditions make it possible)
- All equipment included (mask, snorkel, fins) + life jacket
- Hotel transfers in an air-conditioned minivan

Tour Location
Surin Islands – Mu Ko Surin National Park
The Surin Islands are part of Mu Ko Surin National Park, a protected archipelago in the Andaman Sea known for some of Thailand’s best snorkeling. Made up of five islands — including Koh Surin Nuea and Koh Surin Tai — the area feels wild and untouched, with calm bays, clear water, and far less “development” than most popular island destinations.
What makes Surin special is how easy and rewarding the water time is: shallow coral gardens close to the beaches, lots of reef fish, and great visibility that lets you enjoy the colors even without diving deep. Many trips include multiple snorkel stops around channels and bays, plus beach time and a lunch break inside the National Park — a full day that feels like a true island escape.

- No drones: Drone flights are strictly prohibited.
- No single-use plastics: Many Thai National Parks prohibit single-use plastic items (and foam containers). Please avoid bringing disposable plastic/foam packaging into the park.
- Reef-safe sunscreen only: Thai National Parks have announced bans on certain chemical sunscreens that are harmful to coral. Please use reef-safe sunscreen or protective clothing instead.
- Respect wildlife: Do not touch, chase, or disturb marine life. Never stand on coral or the seabed, and never take shells or coral as souvenirs.
- Follow park staff & boat crew instructions: Rules can change depending on conservation measures and conditions. Always follow the guide briefing and any ranger instructions.
New Thailand Diving & Snorkeling Rules
Thailand introduced stricter nationwide standards for diving and snorkeling activities (effective 22 April 2025) to protect coral reefs and improve safety.- Supervision required: Every trip must be accompanied by a certified dive supervisor or assistant.
- Life jackets for snorkeling near coral: Life vests must be provided and worn when snorkeling near coral reefs (unless the tourist holds a recognized freediving certificate).
- Mandatory briefing: Guests must receive a briefing on laws, safety, and responsible marine practices before activities.
- Group ratios: Limits apply to how many guests one supervisor can oversee (different limits for deep diving vs snorkeling/freediving, and for training sessions).
- Camera rules: Underwater photography is restricted unless the diver is qualified (e.g., Advanced certification or 40 logged dives) and can show proof if requested.
- Reef distance: Divers must stay at least 2 metres above coral heads, and fin control must be demonstrated before approaching coral areas.
