Similan Islands No. 8 & No. 9: Spectacular Boulders, Exciting Drifts & Pelagic Encounters
Every Friday
Similan Islands No. 8 and No. 9 are where the Similan Islands truly earn their world-class reputation. Home to some of the park’s most famous dive sites, these northern islands combine towering granite boulders, dramatic swim-throughs, sandy channels, vibrant coral reefs, and crystal-clear water to create the classic Similan Islands diving experience.
No two dives around Similan Islands No. 8 and No. 9 feel the same. One site may offer a relaxed reef dive teeming with colourful marine life, while the next delivers an exhilarating drift dive over giant granite formations with schools of fish riding the current. This diversity makes Similan Islands No. 8 and No. 9 a favourite destination for certified divers looking to experience the best diving in the Similan Islands.
The marine life is just as memorable as the scenery. Green turtles are regularly seen gliding along the reef, leopard sharks often rest on sandy patches, and enormous schools of fusiliers, snapper, and glass fish create spectacular underwater displays. During stronger currents, you’ll often witness exciting feeding behaviour as predators move in and baitfish swirl around the reef. It’s these unforgettable encounters, combined with the iconic underwater landscapes, that make Similan Islands No. 8 and No. 9 some of the most rewarding dive sites in Thailand.
