Navigation Specialty, stop guessing and start navigating
Compass + natural navigation skills that make every dive smoother, safer, and more confident
Good navigation is one of the biggest upgrades you can make as a diver. The SSI Navigation Specialty teaches you how to find your way underwater comfortably and reliably, whether you are following a reef, returning to the boat, or exploring a new site. You will learn practical compass use, how to estimate distance and time, basic navigation patterns, and how to leave and return to a designated point.
You will also build strong natural navigation habits: reading reef shape, sand channels, light direction, current, landmarks, and team positioning so you always know where you are and where you are going. The result is less stress, better awareness, and more time enjoying the dive instead of wondering where the exit is.
